Don'ts for Mothers, 2013 #2-Kevin Scent
Don't underestimate the relief and gratitude you feel coming home to a clean house, cooked dinner, and happy baby.
Our nieces will tell you that one of Uncle's most distinct character traits is his formidable scent. Watch out for this guy when he eats broccoli or french vanilla ice cream. Our baby has inherited this talent and thinks nothing is funnier than someone calling him "Farty Baby".
Despite this one notable exception, Raf is a pretty great guy. He has been cooking my meals since we've lived together and got a lot done when I was at work long before we had a child. I always appreciated it, but there's something extra special about all this happening when he is also watching the baby.
Jude had his two month check up today (the kid's in the 98th percentile for height!) so Raf brought him to the doctor and I met them there from work. He does most of the caring for the baby at the doctor. In the picture above he is entertaining Jude by making faces into the mirror. Yesterday he disassembled our Christmas decorations and made soup for an elderly neighbor. He did most of the night feed so I could get some sleep last night and has a magical rock that soothes Jude at his crazy crazy time of night when nothing else will.
Today he made us reverse wings for dinner.
(What a gem of a conversation THIS was...)
Then he put my favorite Dashboard Unplugged DVD in, creating a perfect ending to this first week back at work. This guy's my favorite, especially since he shaved his mustache and even if he dresses like this:
