The Cookoff: Round 3

Round 3

Rudolph's Snowballs With Santa's Sleigh Bruschetta

When asked what inspired his choice of ingredient for "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", Greg said, "The rosy glow of Rudolph's nose reminded me of the freshness of vine-ripened tomatoes."

The chef says, "It was reindeer antler-shaped pasta adorned with fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, roasted garlic, and cherry tomatoes (which were tossed with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and Frosted Cheerios™). The bruschetta was a cherry tomato medley marinated in cider vinegar, olive oil, Frosted Cheerio™ powder, fresh parsley, sea salt, and pepper with an avocado runner on Santa's sleigh."

Since this particular chef already spilled the beans about her dish, an obvious photo hint is included in this round.

Christmas. Ruined.

In Other Christmas News...

The breathalyzer has been a big hit, as evidenced by my mother dancing to Most Def while using it:

Jude is enjoying his best Christmas gift: A boob ball. This will be good for years to come.

Round 2

Jorry Pork Tenderloin with Cinnamon Toast Crunch Crumble

Soy sauce  was inspired by the movie “A Christmas Story”, where on Christmas, after the turkey gets ruined by the Bupkis hounds, they go out to eat at a Chinese food restaurant where they are serenaded with "Deck the Halls".

The chef says, "The marinade has a soy sauce base with the addition of cinnamon sugar, ginger, mustard powder, lemon juice and dry sherry."

The Cookoff: Round 1

ROUND 1

Boozy French Toast Breakfast for a White Christmas Morning

Cherry  bourbon was selected for the song "White Christmas" using the Mr. Eshelman method: When you think of White Christmas, you think of Bing Crosby. When you think of Bing Crosby, you think of Bing cherry. When you think of Bing cherry, you think of cherry bourbon. White Christmas, Bing Crosby, bing cherry, cherry bourbon. We got something tasty for our note cards. (You ever make a joke for just one person out of the possible 20 who might read something?).

The chef says:

"What I've prepared for you today is a variation on a Baltimore favorite, Cap'n Crunch
French Toast. Alright, so you've got Red Stag cherry bourbon Cocoa Puff™ French toast with macerated berries, hot butter/cherry bourbon maple syrup, cereal milk whipped cream, and a cherry bourbon maple brittle.

There's cherry bourbon in the French toast batter, and the brittle and the cereal, obviously, and also in the macerated berries.  The French toast is crusted with Cocoa Puffs™,  and they're also in the whipped cream and mixed in with the “snow”.

There are cocoa nibs, cayenne pepper, and sunflower seeds in the brittle, and there are dried cranberries in the macerated berries.

For inspiration, I focused more on the ingredients than the song: I tried to think of as many ways to use the bourbon and the Cocoa Puffs™ together as I could."
