Well, we survived another year. It didn't snow and our "fancy" theme was a huge success.
Raf's costume was the most complex. First the shaving, then the painting:
The kids had to find all kinds of things to do to entertain themselves while Karen painted him:
Ryan came as "Ryan Boitano". His costume was a last minute find and it was fabulous. Apparently it also comes in purple:
Mudge was Robert Goulet:
Here's the rest of us:
The after party (things got a bit crazy):
Part of my Valentine's gift from my lovely Valentine:
Now excuse me while I get back to this 70 degree February...

OBX 2010 (and a little bit of 2011)
One more day in the Outer Banks... as Raf says, "All is quiet on a New Year's Day" so I figured I'd take a few moments to post some pictures.
Raf and I got here on Sunday, the 26th. Here's what was happening in Virginia Beach when we left:
(Photos courtesy of A-1 American)
It took us nearly 4 hours to get here and we barely got above 20 mph in Virginia, but by the time we crossed over the bridge onto Hatteras Island, there wasn't a flake of snow on the ground! There's over a foot back home, but we escaped it completely.
Kev and I spent 4 days doing very little. We played pool, we went to the beach, we ate at a few local places that are still open, we watched a lot of Dog Whisperer, we went to the outlets, we got in the hot tub... but mostly we just relaxed. It was very nice. Here's the place:
(This photo is from the Surf or Sound website because I didn't get a good exterior shot)
Upstairs, consisting of great room and master bedroom (which we could not use because we do not have king sized sheets)... the tub was awesome though!
Maddy spent most of the week on this couch and did NOT appreciate being dog-whispered...
This is the view from the top deck.
These are the middle bedrooms. Left was Brynn's room, middle Karen and Ryan's, and right was ours.
The bottom floor had one more bedroom (my mom and Greg's), the pool table, and a small wet bar.
Here's my mom's favorite spot... the hot tub. And she also enjoyed the pool, as it turns out.
We enjoyed this fantastic view each night:
The last two are from the master bedroom window. It looked like a painting each night.
We went to the outlets on our last day alone (and Raf's beard got longer than it's been since 2008), then everyone arrived. On Thursday, my mom, Greg and I went to Buxton to see the Hatteras lighthouse while Kevin cooked all day:
Liz was in her jammies by 1:30 PM.
Breakfast Friday morning, prepared by Ryan and Karen (she slaved over the cinnamon rolls in particular):
Brynn liked them:
Then came the real festivities: the Sam Adams party. The costumes were impressive.
The real Sam Adams:
I was a "Sam-witch". The vampire teeth were because we were having a "Sampire" party to freak out my mom, who has an irrational fear of vampires.
Next we had Samantha Ronson, as in Lindsay Lohan's DJ girlfriend:
My mom and Greg were a Samsonite suitcase and Sam's Club respectively.
Baz and Erin were Yosemite Sam and Ansel Adams:
Wendell was Samuel L. Jackson:
But one costume, Adam Ant, was by far the best. With special permission for full exposure... Enjoy this gem!
This was the inspiration picture. His attention to detail was impeccable!
Today we are laying low. Went to the beach this afternoon because the weather is fantastic:
So far I love 2011.
